Crusades

Women and children were shouting for mercy, but useless. Around 70,000 citizens including women and innocent children were killed with brutality. There was so much human blood near Masjid-e-Umar, that it's level was up to the knees. The streets, markets and the whole city was red with blood. Corpses were lying in houses, mosques, crossings and roads. People were forced to jump from towers and innocent citizens were burnt alive!

It happened about nine centuries ago, when crusaders invaded Jerusalem. But, nine decades later, this darkness was defeated by the rising sun, and Jerusalem was conquered by Sultan Salah-ud-din Ayyubi, the hero of Crusades and the inventor of gorrilla warfare. When Sultan conquered the city, there were 60,000 soldiers inside the city. The wifes and mothers of captive crusade soldiers, pleaded Sultan, that their husbands and sons, are the only support for their lives, and they can't survive without them, and Sultan replied "Return to the Mothers...their sons, and to to the Wives... their husbands ! ".

Spanyol, Mutiara Islam yang Hilang

STUDIA Edisi 284/Tahun ke-7 (13 Maret 2006)

Ramadhan 92 H, atau bertepatan dengan tahun 711 M, Thariq bin Ziyad dan pasukannya merapat di pantai Spanyol, dengan membawa misi untuk menyebarkan dakwah Islam. Sayang, Raja Roderick dan pasukannya menolak, dan bahkan mengobarkan peperangan. Peperangan itu sebenarnya bermula dari pertikaian antara sesama Kristen Spanyol. Raja Roderick yang berkuasa saat itu, memaksakan keyakinan Trinitas Kristen yang dianutnya kepada umat Nasrani Aria. Berbeda dengan para pendukung Roderick yang meyakini Nabi Isa sebagai Yesus, yaitu Allah Bapak, Anak Tuhan, dan Ruh Kudus, kaum Nasrani Aria meyakini Nabi Isa semata sebagai utusan Allah. Pemaksaan keyakinan Trinitas oleh Raja Roderick ini menimbulkan penindasan di kalangan Nasrani Aria. Lantas, pimpinan mereka meminta bantuan kepada Pasukan Thariq bin Ziyad yang memang sudah merapat di Spanyol dalam misi dakwah dari khalifah.
