February 09, 2009 “Information Clearinghouse” — — The War against the Palestinian people by the Israeli Self Defense force (IDF) has been nothing short of genocide against a people that can’t defend themselves. The American media has consistently portrayed the Israeli nation as the injured party, when in reality; it has provoked Hamas by using siege warfare against the Gaza Strip since September of 2008. Hamas had nothing to lose by shooting their inefficient missiles at Israel. To understand exactly how lethal these missiles are, more Israeli’s have died in automobile accidents than in terrorist attacks. To further complicate a situation that has no immediate answers, Palestinian and Jewish DNA are remarkably similar, suggesting that they originated from the same ancestors.

While Israeli citizens were videotaped outside the Gaza borders, smiling as helicopters rained rockets of white phosphorus down on a metropolis where 50% of the people are under the age of 15 years old, one must wonder why the United States is so steadfast in its support of this rogue nation. Who sold them their white phosphorus munitions? Who sold them their helicopters that were used to rein death upon helpless civilians? According to human rights organizations, only 15% of the casualties in Gaza were Hamas.

A senior Hamas official accused Mahmoud Dahlan, PA President Mahmoud Abbas’s former national security adviser, of collaborating with Israel against Hamas during Operation Cast Lead in the Gaza Strip.

The unnamed Hamas official alleged to Time Magazine that Dahlan appeared in the Egyptian coastal town of El Arish, near Gaza, shortly before Israel began its military operation, adding that Dahlan had sent Fatah loyalists into the Strip to held the IDF hunt down Hamas commanders.

The allegation is based on interrogation of suspected collaborators accused of helping to pinpoint Hamas’ hideouts and weapons caches for Israeli targeting, Hamas reportedly claimed.

According to the report, Dahlan was hoping to help Israel decimate Hamas in order to reestablish Fatah’s control in Gaza.

Feb 8, 2009 Bethlehem – Ma’an – Controversy mounted over the death of Hamas member Abd Aj-Jamil Al-Haj while in custody at a Palestinian Authority prison Sunday. Shortly after his death the Al-Haj family released a statement saying they held the PA responsible for the death of their son. A Palestinian security source would confirm the death of the 30-year-old, saying he died in a Palestinian Preventive Security Detention Center in the West Bank city of Jenin. The source, however, claimed that Al-Haj, who was arrested on Friday, committed suicide. Al-Haj’s brother, Bilial, told Ma’an the initial arrest had been for political reasons, adding that no charges had been leveled against his brother. Bilal Al-Haj said that upon arrival at the morgue, his brother’s body had bruises around his waist. A Hamas spokesperson also accused the PA security forces of causing Al-Haj’s death. A prominent member of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) of Hamas’ Change and Reform Block in Gaza, Ahmad Bahar, blamed the PA for Al-Haj’s death. He said that if the Ramallah government continues arresting Hamas members then fact of its role will become really doubted. He added that torture is regularly carried out against Hamas members inside West Bank prisons. Senior Hamas member Ra’fat Nassif said “Hamas will not participate in any dialogues until all its detainees in PA prisons are freed.” He further accused PA security personnel of torturing Al-Haj to death. ***Updated Monday 9 February 10:01 Bethlehem time

MOSUL, Iraq – A suicide bomber detonated a vehicle laden with explosives near a U.S. patrol in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul on Monday, killing four U.S. soldiers and their interpreter, the U.S. military said.

The attack was the deadliest against U.S. forces in Iraq this year. Only four U.S. soldiers were killed in hostile action in all of January, the lowest monthly toll since the U.S.-led invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein in 2003.

U.S. and Iraqi forces say al-Qaida militants are making a stand in Mosul after being driven from other parts of the country. Violence there remains high, though it has fallen in most of the country to the lowest level since the war began.

U.S. and Iraqi officials had hoped that violence in Mosul might subside after provincial elections in January in which Sunni Arab parties won the largest share of the vote in surrounding Nineveh province.

The provincial government has been controlled by minority Kurds because Sunni Arabs boycotted the last elections in 2005, and U.S. commanders say Sunni Arab exclusion from local power fuelled resentment, aiding al-Qaida and other insurgents.

The U.S. force of more than 140,000 troops is reducing its presence in Iraqi towns and cities under a bilateral security pact that took effect on Jan. 1.

KABUL – Two American soldiers died in Afghanistan on Sunday when a roadside bomb they were trying to defuse exploded, a U.S. spokeswoman said. An Afghan interpreter and a policeman also died in the blast.

A group of American soldiers and Afghan officials had been traveling through the world’s largest opium poppy producing region — the southern province of Helmand — when they discovered the roadside bomb and tried to defuse it, said Kamal Uddin, Helmand’s deputy provincial police chief.

Two American soldiers died in the blast, said Capt. Elizabeth Mathias. Uddin said an Afghan translator and a police officer also died.

Helmand is a stronghold of Taliban militants, who control wide swaths of territory in the province. Helmand has long been the domain of British forces in the 40-nation fight against the Taliban, but the U.S. is expected to send thousands of troops there this year to help battle a militant movement that has grown in strength in the last three years.

ISLAMABAD, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) — Militants killed two persons in Pakistan’s tribal areas on charges of spying for the United States, according to local press reports. The body of an Afghan national was found Monday near the roadside in the Spinwam area of Miranshah, North Waziristan. A note found near the body said that he had been spying for the United States.

The bullet-riddled body of a tribesman, Rafiq Khan, was found from Gongat Jawar area in the Bajaur agency.

The notes found with the bodies said that anyone spying for the United States would meet the same fate.

Meanwhile, U.S. special envoy to South Asia Richard Holbrooke arrived Monday evening in Islamabad for a two-day visit.
