French Professor Sacked Over 9/11 Conspiracy Theory

An academic in France has been sacked by the Ministry of Defence after questioning the official version of events surrounding the 9/11 attacks. He now reportedly plans to sue the government.

Aymeric Chauprade lost his job allegedly over the introduction to his latest book about political crises around the world, and more specifically, that the 9/11 attacks in New York City and Washington D.C. were an orchestrated “American-Israeli conspiracy”. The Defence Minister had strong objections to the material, so Aymeric had to go.

Jean Dominique Merchet, a French journalist, was the first to report on the sacking.

“The Ministry of Defence has reacted too brutally. They have transformed Chauprade into a victim, and not an intellectual opponent – even if what he defends is not good,” Merchet said.

Chauprade explained his firing by the Ministry of Defence as the result of him speaking about a subject that was considered off limits.

“I touched upon a taboo – the theory of a conspiracy plot. Apparently there is only one possibility in an accidental world. And all the wars have sprung from this – Afghanistan and so on.”

The book’s introduction highlights a theory that the twin towers were blown up as part of an American-Israeli pact.

“He did scientific work – see it’s written here, ‘the theories included here are contesting the official theory of Muslim responsibility’. That’s an opinion!” says Chauprade’s lawyer Antoine Beauquier.

Defence Minister Herve Morin was reportedly outraged by the suggestions and demanded the academic’s sacking from his job at the French Military College in Paris, where Chauprade was teaching geopolitics.

The Ministry has refused to comment on the affair.

After Donald Rumsfeld testified on the Hill about Abu Ghraib in May, there was talk of more photos and video in the Pentagon’s custody more horrific than anything made public so far. “If these are released to the public, obviously it’s going to make matters worse,” Rumsfeld said. Since then, the Washington Post has disclosed some new details and images of abuse at the prison. But if Seymour Hersh is right, it all gets much worse.

Hersh gave a speech last week to the ACLU making the charge that children were sodomized in front of women in the prison, and the Pentagon has tape of it. The speech was first reported in a New York Sun story last week, which was in turn posted on Jim Romenesko’s media blog, and now EdCone.com and other blogs are linking to the video. We transcribed the critical section here (it starts at about 1:31:00 into the ACLU video.) At the start of the transcript here, you can see how Hersh was struggling over what he should say:

Feb 28, 2009 According to the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, during the week of 19 – 26 Feb. 2009, a Palestinian child died of wounds sustained during the recent Israeli invasion of Gaza. In addition, Israeli troops injured 19 Palestinians, 17 of whom were unarmed civilians, of whom eight were children, in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The injured include a radio reporter from the southern Gaza city of Rafah. Israeli forces carried out intensive air strikes along the border with Egypt, forcing residents from their homes. Two members of the Palestinian resistance were injured in an air strike.

Some researchers make challenging and troubling claims, which threaten to overturn major aspects of the Holocaust story:

* Key witnesses to the Holocaust have either falsified or greatly exaggerated important aspects of their stories.

* The figure of “six million” has little basis in fact. This number, which theoretically could only have been known after the war, actually traces back decades before.

* Major death camps, like Belzec, Sobibor, Chelmno, and Treblinka, have vanished “without a trace”—as have most of their alleged victims. Such a thing is not possible.

Here is a little bit of history.

This is the headline of March 24th, 1933 reporting the boycott against Germany declared by the world’s bankers following Hitler’s abandonment of the debt-based banking system imposed on Germany after WWI and the establishment of a monetary system based on fixed units of worth. This simple change had turned Germany’s economy around to the point where TIME Magazine declared Hitler their man of the year for his success in revitalizing Germany. But such a system was a direct threat to the profits of the bankers.

The bankers, terrified that the rest of the world would see the obvious advantages in the new German system, set about to wreck the new German economy and by so doing set the stage for WWII.

Vatican says Holocaust-denying bishop’s apology not enough for entry as prelate into church

VATICAN CITY – An apology from a bishop who denied the Holocaust wasn’t good enough, the Vatican said Friday, adding that he must repudiate his views if he wants to be a Roman Catholic clergyman.

The statement by Bishop Richard Williamson “doesn’t appear to respect the conditions” the Vatican set out for him, said the Rev. Federico Lombardi, a spokesman for the pope.

In an interview broadcast last month on Swedish state TV and in previous letters and speeches, Williamson denied 6 million Jews were killed in the Holocaust, saying about 200,000 or 300,000 were murdered. He said none was gassed.

Williamson apologized for his remarks on Thursday upon his arrival in his native Britain after being ordered to leave Argentina. He said he would never have made them if he had known “the full harm and hurt to which they would give rise.”

But he didn’t say he had been wrong or that he no longer believed what he had said.

On Friday, German Justice Minister Brigitte Zypries said Germany could issue a European-wide arrest warrant on hate crimes charges for Williamson since the Swedish TV interview was conducted in Germany.

State prosecutors in Regensburg, Germany, have opened a preliminary investigation into whether Williamson broke German laws against Holocaust denial.

Tossing the Bishop into jail for six or seven years will be his punishment for Thought Crime violations, saith the High Priests protecting the Holocaust™ religion.

Last week’s news that North Korea plans to test a ballistic missile that could reach Alaska gave doomsayers more grounds for gloom. But amid the fear about nuclear attacks by terrorists or leaders such as Kim Jong Il, let’s not forget that the United States has managed to protect itself from such a catastrophe not only since 9/11, but since the birth of the bomb in 1945. That record could end tomorrow, and we have a lot of work to do to stay safe. But fear-mongering — such as Dick Cheney’s warning last month about the “high probability” of terrorists attempting a nuclear or biological attack — can lead to costly mistakes. There are two large standing lamps that illuminate the copy book that I am using to scribble these lines. The thin light black pen is gliding effortlessly over the paper. It is one of my inseparable companions. It is Made in China as well as the copy book with squared paper.

One of my Associates raised the question the other night: is there any manufactured products that American capitalism can produce that China cannot produce better and in greater quantities and considerably cheaper?

This is not fanciful speculation. It therefore follows whether American capitalism in its current state of indebtedness, mass impoverishment and financial disintegration will be able to compete internationally. Or put it another way: how and by what means will it pay for its imports, for what it consumes? Will it be able – on present evidence it is not – to shave and ultimately to eliminate its trade deficit by exporting more than it imports? Further, can the dollar be an acceptable medium of payment and exchange given the battering to which it has been unrelentingly subjected for many years? The observation by Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that the Greenback is worth less than used toilet paper is ungracious, but it is shared by many leading spirits in the world of finance capitalism.
