Bin Laden raid story changes again
The White House’s depiction of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden has changed sharply since President Barack Obama’s first version of events.

LONDON: The head of the CIA has admitted that there was no live video footage of the raid on Osama bin Laden’s compound as further doubts emerged about the US version of events.

Leon Panetta said there was a 25-minute blackout during which the live feed from cameras mounted on the helmets of the US special forces was cut off.

A photograph issued by the White House appeared to show the President and his aides in the situation room watching the action as it unfolded. In fact they had little knowledge of what was happening for long periods.

President Obama was watching on a TV screen as a commando gunned down Osama bin Laden. Via a video camera fixed to the helmet of a U.S. Navy Seal, the leader of the free world saw the terror chief shot in the left eye.

The Seal then carried out what is known in the military as a ‘double tap’ – shooting him again, probably in the chest, to make certain he was dead.

The footage of the battle in Bin Laden’s Pakistani hideout – which played out like an episode of 24 – is said to show one of his wives acting as a human shield to protect him as he blasted away with an AK47 assault rifle.

She died, along with three other men, including one of Bin Laden’s sons. Within hours, the Al Qaeda leader’s body was buried at sea.

As CNN breathless and repeatedly exclaimed in one newscast:

“And still ahead, confirming that it was in fact Osama bin Laden that was killed, it was done incredibly quickly. DNA testing — DNA testing, we’re told, is what did it. We will talk to 360 M.D. Sanjay Gupta, who is a certified medical examiner, about how they were able to do it so fast.

CNN chief medical correspondent and certified medical examiner Dr. Sanjay Gupta is here to kind of explain how this was possible in so short a time.”

The Certified Medical Examiner is a new tag line for the all-purpose Dr. Gupta who CNN usually identifies as a (board-certified) neurosurgeon and CNN medical correspondent.

But what is this Board Certified Medical Examiner stuff?

Setting aside that Gupta appears to be wearing the skin of someone else’s leopard, back in 2002, Gupta, trying to discredit reports that Osama had already died, Dr. Gupta confirmed that Osama was dependent on Dialysis machines to stay alive.

No dialysis machines or any other medical equipment for kidney disease was found in the ruins of last Sunday’s raid.

US President Obama watched the raid in which Osama Bin Laden was killed in real-time, according to White House Counter-Terrorism advisor John Brennan.

Speaking at a news conference he said that “the minutes passed like days” as senior government officials watched events unfold.

Mr Brennan also told journalists that at one point in the operation a woman was used as a human shield to protect Bin Laden from incoming fire.
