The truth is that far from being the poor victim it likes to portray itself as, Israel is in fact the most aggressive and belligerent nation in the region, having invaded pretty much everyone it shares a border with.

The following maps show what Israel has actually done.

The above map is Israel as it was first created by UN declaration in 1947. The blue portion is Israel, the rest is all Arab lands. Note that Jerusalem was completely within Arab lands and Israel was much smaller than it is today. Note also that there is NO Israeli presence inside the area surrounding Jerusalem. No settlements, certainly no IDF.  The red square outlines the approximate region shown in the map to the right.

This is Israel as it is today. Note that the western border of Palestine has been pushed up to Jerusalem. Such a land grab is NOT the result of a defensive act, but of an invasion to bring Jerusalem under Israeli control, even though Jerusalem was not originally part of Israel. The maps clearly tell the story of an Israel conquering lands which do not belong to it. Since Sharon took office, Israel has built more illegal Jewish Settlements on Palestinian land. Note on the above map that the majority of the lands which were originally Arab lands when Israel was created, are now under complete (white) or partial (orange) Israeli control. Only the black areas remain to the Palestinians, and those are shrinking by the minute.

17 year old killed during Nakba demonstrations in East Jerusalem

A 17 year old Palestinian from Silwan has died this morning from wounds sustained during clashes in the East Jerusalem neighbourhood yesterday afternoon. Milad Said Ayyash, a resident of the Ras el-Amud neighborhood in East Jerusalem was shot in the abdomen with live ammunition as Border Police officers and settlers clashed with local youth. He was evacuated to the Muqassed hospital with no pulse and in critical condition, where he underwent surgery in a failed attempt to save his life.

Bloody Sunday: Israeli Forces Kill Protesters

Israeli troops opened fire on protesters along three hostile “borders” on Sunday, leaving as many as 16 people dead and dozens wounded in an unprecedented wave of violence marking the anniversary of the mass displacement of Palestinians surrounding Israel’s establishment in 1948.

Hundreds of Palestinians moved across the Syrian border into the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. The “border” breach set off several hours of violent clashes in which at least four people were killed. At the Qalandiya checkpoint on the outskirts of Ramallah in the West Bank, Israeli troops rushed in to disperse protesters, leaving several wounded. Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted that he will vigorously defend his country’s borders after the mass infiltration from Syria.

Today can only be described as “Bloody Sunday” following the deaths of 21 people, and over 200 injured by Israeli forces. 10 people are reported dead in Lebanon, 8 in Syria, 2 in Gaza, and 1 in the occupied West Bank.

Tens of thousands of Palestinians marked the Nakba anniversary by marching to the borders with Israel in Palestine, Syria and Lebanon. They were demanding their right of return to the homes and lands they were force to flee in 1948.
