U.S. president says during London press conference that he is confident two-state solution is possible, if Palestinians and Israelis agree on a ‘just peace.’

United States President Barack Obama said on Wednesday that the Palestinians should negotiate with the Israelis and not appeal to the United Nations for statehood.

“I strongly believe that for Palestinians to take the United Nations route rather than the path of sitting down and talking with the Israelis is a mistake,” Obama said in a joint press conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron in London.

Memo to President Obama: Israel does not want peace, and has demonstrated this for the 60-plus years of its existence.

Israel wants territory, and by any means necessary. This is why, if you have been looking, you will see the brisk Israeli annexation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem, coupled with forced expulsions of Palestinians from the homes in which they have lived for generations.

What Israel wants is a one-state solution, strictly Jewish and Israeli, with every Palestinian dispossessed, landless, homeless, and without citizenship of any kind.

That, Mr. President, is how Israel characterizes ‘a just peace’.
