In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

=== News Update ===

Islam, Muslims and the West

The recent prepared remarks by Pope Benedict XVI regarding Islam and its Prophet have angered Muslims. These remarks seem to be part of a larger campaign that is being waged in the West by some Christians and Jews to defame Islam, to discredit its historical figures, and to bring about a clash of civilizations.

Religious hatred is no more than a variety of racism

The demonisation of Islam by politicians and pundits benefits only the extreme right

After his acquittal on the charge of inciting racial hatred, Nick Griffin was asked whether he was a racist. He replied that he was no longer one, that he is now a “religionist”. But should we believe that Griffin has really abandoned the racism that frames his ideology and that of the party he leads? Of course not. All Griffin has done is stretch from one category of racism to another – without breaking with the former: from a discourse founded on racial hatred to one based on religio-racial hatred. In the speech for which he and his assistant, Mark Collett, were taken to court, the two shifted effortlessly from referring to Islam as “this wicked, vicious faith” that “has expanded from a handful of cranky lunatics about 1,300 years ago”, to speaking of Asian “muggers”, “rapists”, “bastards”, “cockroaches” and “ethnics” who need to be “shown the door”.,,1946317,00.html

General Ivashov: “International terrorism does not exist”

General Leonid Ivashov was the Chief of Staff of the Russian armed forces when the September 11, 2001, attacks took place. This military man, who lived the events from the inside, offers an analysis which is very different to that of his American colleagues.

Spy leaves egg on U.S. faces

How the al-Qaida superspy manipulated FBI intelligence watchdogs, as well as one of America’s most respected U.S. attorneys, is a chilling bedtime story. Those few people who still believe the West has been told all there is to know about intelligence bungling that led up to 9/11 — a recent poll found 80% of Americans think their administration is not being fully truthful — should trace the blood-timeline of Ali Mohamed with utter alarm.

Are the Mujahideen-e-Khalq behind the Najaf massacre?

Who was responsible for the Najaf bombing, in which 125 people were killed – including the leader of the pro-Iranian Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI)?

Democrats seek accommodation with Bush administration to continue Iraq occupation

The puppet’s last dance

The US has proved itself to be clueless about regional politics all the way from Iraq to Afghanistan, from Lebanon to Palestine. Oil and Israel were all that the world’s sole superpower could think of, and the consequences were nothing short of disastrous.

President handed bitter pill of ex-insiders’ dissent

Bush finds himself with fewer and fewer friends. Some of the strongest supporters of the war have grown disenchanted, former insiders are registering public dissent and Republicans on Capitol Hill blame him for losing Congress.

Rights Group Criticizes Saddam Trial

“The court’s conduct, as documented in this report, reflects a basic lack of understanding of fundamental fair trial principles, and how to uphold them in the conduct of a relatively complex trial,” the report said. “The result is a trial that did not meet key fair trial standards. Under such circumstances, the soundness of the verdict is questionable.”,,-6227507,00.html

At least 700 Iraqis die in 8 days of unrelenting violence

The numbers are staggering: In the past eight days, 714 Iraqis have fallen victim to the country’s sectarian bloodbath. They’ve been beheaded, tortured and blown up while looking for work. They’ve been shot, kidnapped and felled by mortars.

Blair calls for Afghanistan reinforcements

Mr Blair added: “Now is the right time to bring into sharp focus the need to stay with Afghanistan and help it progress and develop….We have to regain the vision that brought us here in the first place and which should keep us here until the job is done.”

The invasion of Afghanistan was never about a “vision” of anything more than keeping the oil flowing toward the West.

The situation for average Afghanis is worse than when we invaded, and Karzai has absolutely no credentials in terms of making things better. And let’s not forget Karzai’s “pedigree”: he is a former employee of US-owned UNOCAL, one of the two primairy companies that was bidding for the contract to build an oil pipeline from Uzbekistan through Afghanistan and then to ports in Pakistan.

The status of Palestinians in Israel: 1948-Oslo

SINCE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE STATE of Israel in 1948 the Palestinian Arab inhabitants have occupied a position increasing in influence and strength. Yet their economic, social, political and legal status has been largely neglected by scholars in the field. The focus of this study is the status of the Palestinian minority within Israel today. It also examines the social, political, and legal status of Palestinian Arabs within Israel in terms of segregation of the two communities of Palestinians and Jews. Israel defines itself as the only “democratic” state in the region despite its separate policies towards each community. This study aims to shed light on whether the state of Israel is entitled to define itself as a “democratic” state by examining the status of its Palestinian national minority citizen.

UN slams Israel rights violation

“The violations of human rights in the Palestinian territories are intolerable.”

Gaza suffering “massive” rights violations – U.N.

“The violation of human rights I think in this territory is massive,” Louise Arbour, the U.N. high commissioner for human rights, told reporters during a visit to Beit Hanoun, a town the Israeli army shelled earlier this month, killing 19 civilians.

“The call for protection has to be answered. We cannot continue to see civilians, who are not the authors of their own misfortune, suffer to the extent of what I see.”

Sounds great: but what will the UN actually do about this, in light of the US veto certain to come against almost any statement critical of Israel?

It is obvious that the book ‘How To Make Friends and Influence People’ was never required reading for the fascistlike settlers spread across the Occupied Territories. Now that they have absolute government approval to carry out their style of ethnic cleansing, anything goes.

Israel ups the stakes in the propaganda war

Fateh’s Unholy Alliance: Pinochet in Palestine

A Prescription for Peace – Teaching Tommy During an Era of Fascism

In looking back at that of my own education, I have come to the conclusion that much of what I learned was a matter of propaganda. And I am sorry to say that it wasn’t until “that sorrowful day in September” that I decided to take a serious look at the history of our country, and it was that which has made all the difference, that which no doubt changed my life.

Bush Arrives to Angry Crowds in Indonesia

Appearing with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, whose countrymen turned out by the thousands to show their displeasure with Bush’s staunch support of Israel and the Iraq war, Bush added: “People protest – that’s a good sign.”
