What Happened to Our Dream of Freedom : “We Will Force You To Be Free”

Using violence, not simply as a means to achieve one’s goals, but also as an expression of freedom from Western bourgeois norms, was an idea developed by African revolutionary Franz Fanon. He developed it from the Existentialist ideology of Jean-Paul Sartre, who argued that terrorism was a “terrible weapon but the oppressed poor have no others.” (^ Sartre: The Philosopher of the Twentieth Century, Bernard-Henri Lévy, p.343). ) These views were expressed, for example, in the revolutionary film The Battle of Algiers

Perfidious Albion and the lying American

Wars usually start with one large lie. Throwing more troops into the breach requires a great many little lies. Wars usually end when the lying can’t staunch the bleeding, and the stench.

The War of Terror and the US “National Interest”

Why is it that US politicians feel compelled to appear before a small, delimited section of the United States and pronounce unwavering support for Israel — which is de facto support for ethnic cleansing and slow motion genocide? Why is it the administration of a superpower feels forced to address this small segment of the US population? Is this in the US “national interest”?

‘We Were Torturing People For No Reason’

“You take a healthy guy and you turn him into a cripple, at least for a period of time,” Lagouranis told me. “I don’t care what Alberto Gonzales says. That’s torture.”

Surviving At The Pleasure Of The President

My friend Bernie says ever since the Bush gang stormed the White House in 2000, then stormed the World Trade Center in 2001, we’ve done nothing but run in circles like a bunch of terrified chickens with our heads chopped off. “We have no sense of direction,” Bernie said, “we’re staggering around in a jungle of lies, deceit, and scandal with no way out — and that’s the way they planned it.”

“You’re kidding!” I exclaimed, astonished. “You mean they planned this mess? It’s nothing but bloody chaos out there… ”

Bush’s Long History of Tilting Justice

THE SCANDAL unfolding around the firing of eight U.S. attorneys compels the conclusion that the Bush administration has rewarded loyalty over all else. A destructive pattern of partisan political actions at the Justice Department started long before this incident, however, as those of us who worked in its civil rights division can attest.

Follow The e-mails

The discovery of a previously unknown treasure chest of e-mails buried by the Bush administration may prove to be as informative as Nixon’s secret White House tapes.

A friend recently asked me what I knew about The Secret, and I had to confess, absolutely nothing. A couple of days later, another friend asked the same question, so I decided I’d better investigate this supposedly revolutionary new book and DVD that have taken the country by storm. As I did so, I discovered that nothing about The Secret is revolutionary or new but rather a glitzy, twenty-first century redux of what has come to be called in metaphysical circles “New Thought”.

Deaths In Iraq Have Reached 1 Million : US WarCriminal

Grim claim on fourth anniversary of conflict. THE number of deaths in Iraq since the start of the conflict could be as high as one million, it was claimed yesterday.

On the fourth anniversary of the invasion by Allied troops, an Australian scientist insisted the true death toll dwarfed previous estimates. Dr Gideon Polya said: “Using the most comprehensive and authoritative literature and UN demographic data yields an estimate of one million post-invasion excess deaths in Iraq.”

His figure is far higher than the biggest previous estimate of 655,000.

A spokesman for the Stop The War Coalition said the figure was “astonishing”, adding: “Four years after the start of the conflict in Iraq, we can now see what a disaster the war has been.

“Everything we predicted would happen has taken place, but it has been far worse than we feared.”

One million post-invasion Iraqi excess deaths ignored – Silence of Mainstream media

MWC NEWS readers may have encountered a recent article of mine in which the post-invasion excess deaths (avoidable deaths, deaths that did not have to happen) in Occupied Iraq were estimated at 1 million (ONE MILLION). This estimate was based on the very latest medical literature and UN Population Division data sources that were carefully documented in the 2 February 2007 article.

Accordingly I have RE-CALCULATED the “post-invasion Iraqi excess deaths” as of March 2007, making 5 ESTIMATES using 4 INDEPENDENT SETS OF DATA as set out below. The key sources are UNICEF, the UN Population Division and scientific papers from the top US medical epidemiology group in the World’s top Public Health Department (the Bloomberg School of Public Health) at the top Johns Hopkins University and published peer-reviewed in the top medical journal The Lancet (for further details and detailed documentation of what follows see MWC News and HERE ):

The 9/11 Truth Domino Effect

More and more going public everyday with vital information and valuable expertise.

The leaking of the until now withheld WTC blueprints this week represents a growing trend of truth seeking individuals putting aside politics and coming forth in an attempt to set the record straight on the defining event of the 21st century.

Below is a by no means extensive list with links that represents how this 9/11 truth domino effect is gathering pace in all walks of life.

Professors Question the 9/11 Commission Report

Many well known and respected professors have expressed significant criticism of the 9/11 Commission Report. Several even allege government complicity in the terrible acts of 9/11. This section is a collection of their public statements. This website is not an organization and it should be made clear that none of these individuals are affiliated with this website.

Listed below are statements by 120 professors that contradict or are critical of the 9/11 Commission Report. Their collective voices give credibility to the claim that the 9/11 Commission Report is tragically flawed.

Scholars for 9/11 Truth & Justice

This is the new home for a restructured scholars group that welcomes scholars and all persons interested in exposing the truths of the 9/11/01 attack. Take the word ‘terrorism’

Further to the Email Exchange in the below posting:

Email exchange:
The following is an exchange of emails with a dear friend who saw the video of the blasting of the Bradley:

Your half hearted apology does not clear your support of al-Qaeda. I am really disgusted with your contribution to promoting terrorism, and in providing a platform for its dissemination.

Each of the Iraqi children killed by the United States was our child. Each of the prisoners tortured in Abu Ghraib was our comrade. Each of their screams was ours. When they were humiliated, we were humiliated. The U.S. soldiers fighting in Iraq ~ mostly volunteers in a poverty draft from small towns and poor urban neighborhoods ~ are victims just as much as the Iraqis of the same horrendous process, which asks them to die for a victory that will never be theirs: Arundhati Roy – Source: Arundhati Roy, “Tide? More than 155 killed Wednesday: Revenge killings by Iraq police:

Hours after truck bombs killed 85 people on Tuesday in a Shi’ite area of Tal Afar, up to 70 Sunni Arab men were shot dead in a town which only a year ago was held up by U.S. President George W. Bush as an example of progress towards peace.

Iraqi police arrested for massacre

Iraq’s government admitted on Thursday that policemen were behind the vengeful slaughter of 70 Sunni Arabs in a northern town, heightening concern about its complicity in sectarian killings.

Daily tragedies in Iraq: routine

I could fill the blog with these every day, but here are two that are particularly poignant. From the Times on March 26:

The crime of being born Palestinian

Almost two weeks ago, my friend Dawud, a high school English teacher from Kufr ‘Ain, called me nearly in tears to report the checkpoint hold-up that had cost him his six-month-old son. Shortly after midnight on March 8th, my friend’s baby began having trouble breathing. His parents quickly got a taxi to take him to the nearest hospital in Ramallah, where they hoped to secure an oxygen tent, which had helped him recover from difficult respiratory episodes in the past. As the family was rushing from their Palestinian town in the West Bank to their Palestinian hospital in the West Bank, they were stopped at Atara checkpoint, where an Israeli soldier asked for the father’s, mother’s, and driver’s IDs. Dawud explained to the soldier that his son needed urgent medical care, but the soldier insisted on checking the three IDs first, a process that usually takes a few minutes. Dawud’s was the only car at the checkpoint in the middle of the night, yet the soldier held the three IDs for more than twenty minutes, even as Dawud and his wife began to cry, begging to be allowed through. After fifteen minutes, Dawud’s baby’s mouth began to overflow with liquid and my friend wailed at the soldier to allow them through, that his baby was dying. Instead, the soldier demanded to search the car, even after the IDs had been cleared. At 1:05am, six-month-old Khalid Dawud Fakaah died at Atara Checkpoint. As the soldier checked the car, he shined his flashlight on the dead child’s face and, realizing what had happened, finally returned the three ID cards and allowed the grieving family to pass.

It seems that anti Arab sentiments are on the rise in Israel. This according to a recent poll on whether or not the state should back Arab migration. Of 500 Israeli Jews polled, the results showed 50% were in favour of encouraged migration.

I find it amazing that there is no attempt made to hide these feelings. Israel is constantly denying that it is a racist state or a state that is implementing apartheid, but here is proof that those very policies are supported by half of the population.

It is a very sad commentary on the situation here and shows how much work is left to be done in this country to reverse this trend before it completely overtakes us.

Racism must be defeated through education. Ignorance leads to fear and fear leads to walls being built. Our work is cut out for us….

This article from HaAretz discusses the poll…

Stranger than fiction?

Key evidence in Padilla case got to CIA in Afghan pickup

Among the Arabic documents piled in his pickup was a blue binder containing dozens of forms that U.S. officials say were essentially applications for al-Qaida terrorism training camps. One of those forms was filled out and signed by Abu Abdullah al Mujahir, one of the aliases used by Padilla

Arab leaders urge Israel, world to take peace offer

Arab leaders on Thursday endorsed a peace plan to end a decades-old conflict with Israel and the Palestinian president warned of more violence if the “hand of peace” was rejected.

Israel rejects Arab peace plan

The plan, endorsed at the Arab League summit on Wednesday, offers Israel full diplomatic relations if it withdraws from all land occupied in 1967, allows the creation of a Palestinian state and the return of Palestinian refugees.

Palestinians cling to ‘right of return’

The plan demands the establishment of a Palestinian state and also calls for a “just solution to the Palestinian refugee problem”, based on people returning to their homes or the payment of appropriate compensation.

Barack Obama Inc.: The birth of a Washington machine

It is also startling to see how quickly Obama’s senatorship has been woven into the web of institutionalized influence-trading that afflicts official Washington. He quickly established a political machine funded and run by a standard Beltway group of lobbyists, P.R. consultants, and hangers-on.

Obama’s K Street project

While Obama has decried the influence of special interests in Washington, the reality is that many of the most talented and experienced political operatives in his party are lobbyists, and he needs their help.
