Keturunan Yahudi Indonesia

  • Marini Sardi, artis
  • Yapto Suryosumarno, politikus; tokoh pemuda
  • Nafa Urbach, artis

First Palestinian killed after truce

Sun, 18 Jan 2009 09:28:18 GMT

Israeli forces have killed a 20-year-old Palestinian in the southern Gaza Strip after declaring a unilateral ceasefire, medical workers say.

The incident occurred near the Gazan town of Khan Younis, the workers said, identifying the man as a civilian.

This is the first Palestinian killed since Israel declared a unilateral ceasefire after 22 days of attacks on Gaza Strip, which have killed at least 1,240 Palestinians.

Tel Aviv began pounding and shelling the impoverished strip shortly after it announced a ‘unilateral ceasefire’.

Al Qaeda Doesn’t Exist (Documentary) – 1

This is the Prologue to the new documentary from The Corbett Report, Al Qaeda Doesn’t Exist. This documentary interrogates the notion that Osama Bin Laden single-handedly runs the pervasive Al Qaeda terrorist network by examining its inception, its links to Western intelligence, the double agents and fictitious characters that populate its ranks, and the fraudulent ways the Al Qaeda myth is propagated in the controlled corporate media. The documentary also offers ways that citizens can become involved in helping to spread understanding about the true government-sponsored terror paradigm.

Israel must be judged at the International Criminal Court – Universal petition

Israel must be judged at the International Criminal Court – Universal petition

Approximately 300 among NGOs and associations ask the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to open an investigation on the war crimes committed by Israel in Gaza. Our support is indispensable. Sign and circulate this urgent «universal petition».

To the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC)

Law is the distinguishing mark of human civilisation. All progress made by humanity coincides with the consolidation of rights. The challenge that Israel’s aggression against Gaza poses to us consists in affirming, when confronted with such great suffering, that the response to violence is justice.

War crimes? Only courts are able to bring about a sentence, but all of us can bear witness, because a human being only exists in his relationship with others. The circumstances show the breadth of their dimension in Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1949, «All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.»

The protection of populations, and not only of States, is the reason why the International Criminal Court exists. A population without a State is the most threatened of all, and before History, they are placed under the protection of international bodies. The most vulnerable populations must be the most protected. Killing Palestinian civilians, the Israeli armoured tanks have caused humanity as a whole to bleed. We have been insisting that the power of the Prosecutor be put at the service of all the victims, and this task must allow that the entire world receives a message of hope, that of the construction of international rights based on human rights. And together, one day, we can pay homage to the Palestinian people for the contribution that they have given to the defence of human freedom.

Campaign begun on  19/01/2008

Israel fears wave of war crimes lawsuits over Gaza offensive

By Aluf Benn

Israel is preparing for a wave of lawsuits by pro-Palestinian organizations overseas against Israelis involved in the Gaza fighting, claiming they were responsible for war crimes due to the harsh results stemming from the IDF’s actions against Palestinian civilians and their property.

Senior Israeli ministers have expressed serious fears during the past few days about the possibility that Israel will be pressed to agree to an international investigation of the losses among non-combatants during Operation Cast Lead; or alternately, that Israelis will be faced with personal suits, such as happened to Israeli officers who were accused of war crimes in Britain for their actions during the second intifada.

When the scale of the damage in Gaza becomes clear, I will no longer take a vacation in Amsterdam, only at the international court in The Hague,” said one minister. It was not clear whether he was trying to make a joke or not.

Mr Ban said it would not be up to him to launch a war crimes tribunal. It was pathetic

Latest news from Al Jazeera – 19 January 2009

It’s a wrap, a doddle, an Israeli ceasefire just in time for Barack Obama to have a squeaky-clean inauguration with all the world looking at the streets of Washington rather than the rubble of Gaza. Condi and Ms Livni thought their new arms-monitoring agreement – reached without a single Arab being involved – would work. Ban Ki-moon welcomed the unilateral truce. The great and the good gathered for a Sharm el-Sheikh summit. Only Hamas itself was not consulted. Which led, of course, to a few wrinkles in the plan. First, before declaring its own ceasefire, Hamas fired off more rockets at Israel, proving that Israel’s primary war aim – to stop the missiles – had failed. Then Cairo shrugged off the deal because no one was going to set up electronic surveillance equipment on Egyptian soil. And not one European leader travelling to the region suggested the survivors might be helped if Israel, the EU and the US ended the food and fuel siege of Gaza.

History of Israeli Terror Killings Gaza Aggression Timeline

History of Israeli Terror Killings Gaza Aggression Timeline

Stephen Lendman

palestineflagboy.jpg

Jan 19, 2009

World outrage continues over Israeli war crimes and Washington’s complicity. Gazans are now immortalized. Hamas is more popular than ever and remains resolute despite everything the IDF threw against it.

Democrats and Republicans share equal guilt. They fund Israeli state terror, are partnered in its aggression, and have collaboratively planned, supported, and/or agreed to it for the past 41 years. Continuity under Obama is assured. The current Gaza carnage is the worst since 1967. In spite of its “unilateral” ceasefire, sporadic Israeli attacks continue. The IDF merely redeployed. Gaza remains under siege, and human suffering is overwhelming and unrelieved.

Since December 27, Israel conducted terror bombings, tank and naval vessel shellings, and assault troop slaughter on the ground. Illegal weapons were used. Neighborhoods are burning and in ruins. Horrific wounds are reported. Civilians were willfully massacred. They comprise 80 – 90% of the casualties according to human rights organizations and medical authority reports. All 1.5 million Gazans were targeted. They still are. There’s no place anywhere to hide.

Sporadic fighting continues after Israel’s January 17 announcement. Earlier, Israeli Radio reported that more reservists were activated and that IDF operations were in “phase three.” Forces on the ground pushed deeper into Gaza where they remained up to now. Attacks on neighborhoods and refugee camps intensified. Death and injury tolls mount. They approach 7000 but exclude potentially hundreds of unidentified bodies under rubble.

SONG FOR GAZA

“We will not go down”

Dear friends,

I have been overwhelmed by the warmth and the friendship you have all given me in response to my song for Gaza, “We Will Not Go Down”. I am doing my best to go through your numerous messages, emails and comments, and ask you to kindly bear with me until I am able to do so. Please forgive me if I am not able to respond to each and everyone of you; but please also know that I really appreciate your messages.

My original intention to donate proceeds from the sale of the MP3 to charity has been complicated by technical matters; therefore, I have decided to make the song available free of charge. I would like to request that after downloading the song from this page, you kindly donate directly to a charity or an organization dedicated to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people. Worthy of note is UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East), which has been helping Palestinian refugees since their dispossession in 1949. Please click here to donate through them: http://www.un.org/unrwa/

Thank you for your continued encouragement of my work as a musician, for your purchases of my CD, and for spreading the song, the video and the message as you have been doing. I am grateful for every demonstration of support I have received from you, and for every thought and prayer that has gone to the people of Gaza.

Sincerely,

Michael Heart

Gazans Do Not Blame Hamas

Gazans Do Not Blame Hamas

Mel Frykberg

RAMALLAH, Jan 19, 2009 (IPS) – Humanitarian aid is being rushed into Gaza as Israel and Egypt open their borders temporarily to allow convoys of aid to pass through.

While Israeli drones circle the skies above, Hamas security men are back on the streets attempting to restore some semblance of law and order. Policemen are directing traffic. Several looters have been arrested.

Gazans who survived the battering inflicted by Israel’s 22-day military campaign, codenamed Operation Cast Lead, are venturing out and trying to pick up the pieces of their lives.

“People are feeling dazed and confused. Many are desperately trying to contact family members and friends on the few remaining phone lines that operate to see if they are still alive or if they are injured,” Abdallah Al-Agha from Khan Yunis in the south of Gaza told IPS.

“Others are leaving UN shelters for the first time in days to see if and what remains of their homes,” added Al-Agha.

Elena Qleibo, a Gaza-based aid worker from Oxfam and an ex-Costa Rican ambassador to Israel, said parts of Gaza resembled an apocalypse.

“The destruction wrought on Beit Lahiya, in northern Gaza, and the Zeitoun suburb in eastern Gaza city is immense,” Qleibo told IPS. “The sewage is flowing in the streets. Electricity pylons, water and sewage works, municipal and medical buildings, and homes have been levelled.”

Erdogan: Hamas Authority Must Be Respected

=== News Update ===

Erdogan: Hamas Authority Must Be Respected

19/01/2009 Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday described the war on Gaza as a “tragedy” and urged the international community not to marginalize Hamas after its war with Israel.

He also criticized Israel for having showed a lack of respect in keeping Turkey, their main regional ally, in the dark over the Gaza offensive.

Erdogan, speaking on a visit to the European Union headquarters in Brussels, said Hamas had clearly won elections in Gaza in 2007 and this had to be respected.

“We should not be squeezing them into the corner,” he said.

Hamas should be left the time to show if it was capable of improving conditions in Gaza, he said.

“If they are not successful they will lose the next time,” Erdogan said in a speech at a European Policy Center conference.

Hamas: Our Arsenal of Rockets Has Not Been Affected

Hanan Awarekeh

19/01/2009 Hamas vowed on Monday to rearm in defiance of any Israeli and international efforts to prevent the Islamic resistance group from replenishing its arsenal of rockets and other weapons after the Gaza war.

“Do whatever you want. Manufacturing the holy weapons is our mission and we know how to acquire weapons,” Abu Obaida, a spokesman for Hamas’ armed wing, Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades, told a news conference.

Addressing journalists with his face masked by a checkered Arab scarf, he said that only 48 Hamas resistance fighters were martyred in the Israeli offensive in Gaza. Abu Obaida also said that Israel lost “at least 80 soldiers” in the fighting; however the Zionist entity has adopted the media blackout policy concerning its losses there.

Palestinians report that at least 1,300 people were killed in the Strip in the past three weeks, including 420 children.

Abu Obaida went on to say that “all options would be open” if Israel failed to pull its occupation troops out of the Gaza Strip within a week, a demand raised by Hamas when it announced on Sunday a ceasefire after three weeks of fighting. “We have given the Zionist enemy one week to pull out of the Gaza Strip, failing which we will pursue the resistance.”

95 Palestinian fighters killed in Gaza war

95 Palestinian fighters killed in Gaza war

Mon, 19 Jan 2009 12:07:18 GMT

A Palestinian mourns next to the bodies of three of his four children and wife who were killed along with 42 other people in an Israeli attack on a UN-run school on January 7. The casualties of the Gaza war were mostly civilian.

A Palestinian human rights group has revealed that only 95 resistance fighters were killed in the 23-day Israeli offensive into Gaza.

From the 1194 Gazans officially registered as killed in Israeli attacks from December 27 to January 17, a whopping 1099 were civilians, the Gaza-based Palestinian center for human rights reported on Sunday.

Only 95 of those killed were resistance fighters.

Israel unleashed its Operation Cast Lead on Gaza on December 27 allegedly to halt Hamas from targeting Israel and to destroy the Palestinian resistance group.

The 19th day of the Gaza carnage saw Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni state an objective different from the one echelons in Tel Aviv has previously announced.

Livni claimed that despite the assertions of many officials in Tel Aviv, Operation Cast Lead “was never about destroying Hamas”.
