THE Crown Office has been accused of double standards by Scotland’s biggest Islamic group for not bringing terrorism charges against a man who threatened to blow up a mosque and behead Muslims.

The Scottish Islamic Foundation (SIF) has written to Lord Advocate Elish Angiolini querying the decision to prosecute Neil MacGregor for a breach of the peace, not terrorism offences.

MacGregor, 35, has admitted threatening to blow up Scotland’s biggest mosque and to behead one Muslim a week until every mosque was shut down.

He will be sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday.

“There has been criticism for the lack of exposure this case has got, but this stems from how the case was originally handled,” SIF chief executive Osama Saeed said. “Had he been a Muslim, we suspect that counter-terror police would have been involved from the outset, and it would have been processed in a completely different manner.”

Mr Saeed drew a parallel with the case of Mohammed Atif Siddique, a student from Alva, Clackmannanshire, who was jailed for eight years for internet-related terrorist crimes.

Thermite: US 9/11 Crime

By John S. Hatch

April 14, 2009 “Information Clearing House” — -A recent article published in the respected peer-reviewed Open Chemical Physics Journal by nine noted scientists offers incontrovertible proof that the dust from the Twin Towers and Building Seven of the World Trade Center contains small intact samples of Thermite.

Thermite is a highly explosive agent consisting mostly of aluminum and iron oxide, and is used to cut steel in building controlled demolitions, and is also used in welding and in military applications.

Using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry, the scientists were able to determine that the Thermite present is of a specialized type called Nano-thermite or Superthermite. It burns hotter and has a lower ignition temperature than normal Thermite, and is produced at laboratories such as Lawrence Livermore, incidentally thought to be the same lab that produced the anthrax sent out shortly after 9/11.

Nano-thermite could not be accidentally present in dust samples collected at four different sites, nor could it be the result of clean-up operations at ground zero, as one of the samples was retrieved a mere ten minutes or so after the collapse of the second tower. All samples show the same consistency.

The FBI is AWOL on 911 Forensics

UPDATE APRIL 13, 2009 Navy, not FBI, negotiates pirate situation.
UPDATE APRIL 13, 2009 Handbook of Forensic Science
————————–

The FBI: cast on TV as a legendary law enforcement agency. The best of the best – at least we are told. Heck they can solve any crime, even if there are only traces of evidence left, like hair, saliva, fingerprints – they are the ones we Americans turn to when all we have are straws to grasp for evidence…well … that is … as long as the evidence discussed has nothing to do with the 911 attacks on America! Whenever the topic turns to the discussion of evidence regarding the 911 attacks the FBI is AWOL (Absent WithOut Leave) – suddenly unable to comprehend concepts like conspiracy, or analysis of crime scene evidence. For some reason our dauntless FBI has better things to do, like chasing pirates off the horn of Africa. From the article:

“FBI spokesman Richard Kolko described the bureau’s hostage negotiating team as “fully engaged” with the military in strategizing ways to retrieve the ship’s captain and secure the Maersk Alabama and its roughly 20-member U.S. crew.
…Other analysts say the U.S. will be reluctant to use force as long as one of its citizens remains hostage. French commandos, for example, have mounted two military operations against pirates once the ransom had been paid and its citizens were safe.”

Contrast that with the deep concern for American citizens’ lives of the FBI Hostage Roasting Team in Waco, Texas , USA. From the article:
“…at Waco, where the FBI oversaw the largest single spasm of slaughter of civilians by law enforcement in US history, when nearly a hundred Branch Davidians died amid an assault by tanks, flame-throwers and snipers.”

Somehow this contradiction in actions of the FBI triggers my logic circuits to doubt that the actions of the FBI are based on their concern for American citizens’ lives. Their words mean nothing – just look at their actions.

What is the role of the FBI? They make grandiose claims on their website regarding their expertise in solving crimes – especially regarding trace evidence with explosives…that is… as long as it has nothing to do with the 911 attacks. In the case of 911 the FBI is blind, and even if they could see, their actions demonstrate that they have no interest in the evidence remaining from the attacks – they have better things to do; like brainwashing children on their website into thinking it’s cool to wear fake mustaches so they can deceive others. I don’t know what the reason is for the fake mustaches – it’s probably classified information. So who can we rely on to examine the forensic evidence left over from the attacks of 9-11-01?

Can Spain really prosecute George W. Bush aides over torture?

President Bush and Atty. Gen. Alberto Gonzales attend Cinco de Mayo event in Rose Garden at White House May 4, 2007

The White House has discouraged any talk of prosecuting George W. Bush or any of his aides over the torture of terrorism suspects — which President Obama has now outlawed. The new president says he just wants to move on from the policies of the old one.

But not everyone agrees. Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont has called for a Truth Commission, modeled on South Africa’s transition from apartheid, to explore who was responsible for sending the United States down the path of torture. And now a court in Spain is weighing an investigation into whether Bush administration officials violated the Geneva Convention in authorizing waterboarding and other harsh interrogation techniques used with terrorism suspects after 9/11.

On the hit list: former Atty. Gen. Alberto Gonzales, former Justice Department lawyer John Yoo and his boss (now a judge) Jay Bybee, Bush-era Pentagon officials Doug Feith and William Haynes II, and David Addington, chief of staff and legal adviser to former Vice President Dick Cheney.

US silent on Guantanamo abuse claim

Al-Qurani said he has been subjected to ill-treatment almost daily

The US state department has refused to comment on a claim that guards at Guantanamo Bay prison camp abused a Chadian prisoner held there.

Al Jazeera reported on Tuesday that Mohammad al-Qurani had been beaten and tear-gassed by guards after Barack Obama, the US president, pledged to end abuse at the camp in January.

Al-Qurani made the call to Sami al-Hajj, an Al Jazeera cameraman who was himself held at Guantanamo Bay for more than six years.

Al Jazeera’s Monica Villamizar said authorities at Guantanamo Bay confirmed to her that al-Qurani would be punished for making the call but did not say how.

Navy Lieutenant-Commander Brook DeWalt, a Guantanamo spokesman, said: “I can tell you that detainees are allowed weekly phone calls, detainees provide their family names and phone numbers.

Gaza Kids Art Proves Israeli War Crimes: Activist

A picture speaks louder than a thousands words, says a U.K. peace campaigner trapped in Gaza for helping its children express the horrors they experienced in the latest Israeli offensive through artistic drawings that he plans to take global as evidence of war crimes through children’s eyes.

For 63-year-old peace campaigner Rod Cox, what started as a small project to collect samples of children’s drawings depicting Israeli war crimes in Gaza has ballooned into a cultural and artistic exchange project linking Palestinian school children with their British counterparts.

This drawing shows in detail Israeli soldiers targeting civilians in broad day light. Dramatic new evidence of Israeli attacks on the people of Gaza emerged when Cox handed children in Gaza paper, pencils and crayons and asked them to express themselves and speak their minds.

Investigating Israeli War Crimes in Gaza

by Stephen Lendman

gaza-dod_263290b.jpg

April 15, 2009

Independent investigations and convincing testimonies, on both sides, provide compelling evidence of Israeli war crimes in Gaza. It’s time to hold the guilty accountable.

In February, the Adalah Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights showed conclusively how Israel violated core international law principles by indiscriminately attacking civilians in spite of IDF claims such instances were justified.

Amnesty International accused Israel of war crimes and called on the UN Security Council to impose an arms embargo.

Human Rights Watch (HRW) has a long record of acting as an imperial agent even while at times fulfilling its mandate “to protect the human rights of people around the world….stand with (them) and uphold political freedom (by) bring(ing) offenders to justice.”

AL WALEED, IRAQ — What does it feel like to raise a newborn baby in an inhospitable desert where scorpions crawl about and sandstorms threaten to bring down one’s tent?

Lubna Falah is about to find out. She will soon deliver her baby. This is not her first child, but she has never tried to raise one in a tent.

In Baghdad, Lubna had a beautiful home. That was then. Now she is left with bad dreams and repeated nightmares. Lubna is an Iraqi Palestinian, a double refugee, living in the desert close to the border with Syria. Her ancestors fled Palestine 60 years ago when Jewish forces took control of their home in Haifa, and now she is trying to flee Iraq. She is the sister of my friend Lina.

‘Toxic waste’ behind Somali piracy

Some pirates operating off Somalia’s coast claim to act as coastguards [GALLO/GETTY]

Somali pirates have accused European firms of dumping toxic waste off the Somali coast and are demanding an $8m ransom for the return of a Ukranian ship they captured, saying the money will go towards cleaning up the waste.

The ransom demand is a means of “reacting to the toxic waste that has been continually dumped on the shores of our country for nearly 20 years”, Januna Ali Jama, a spokesman for the pirates, based in the semi-autonomous region of Puntland, said.

“The Somali coastline has been destroyed, and we believe this money is nothing compared to the devastation that we have seen on the seas.”

The pirates are holding the MV Faina, a Ukrainian ship carrying tanks and military hardware, off Somalia’s northern coast.

According to the International Maritime Bureau, 61 attacks by pirates have been reported since the start of the year.

While money is the primary objective of the hijackings, claims of the continued environmental destruction off Somalia’s coast have been largely ignored by the regions’s maritime authorities.

The mounting hue and cry in the US press over the menace to civilization posed by Somali “pirates” is yet another Big Lie, to justify the latest chapter in America’s imperial quest for African oil and other resources. US missiles and drones in the air, and perhaps US boots on the ground are all but inevitable, ordered to kill near-defenseless African civilians, by America’s First Black President.
