A recent survey by University of Maryland’s prestigious Program on International Public Attitudes, shows that only 46 percent of Americans think that “bombing and other attacks intentionally aimed at civilians” are “never justified,” while 24 percent believe these attacks are “often or sometimes justified.” Contrast those numbers with 2006 polling results from the world’s most-populous Muslim countries – Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nigeria. The common enemy is violence and terrorism, not Muslims any more than Christians or Jews.

Those who think that Muslim countries and pro-terrorist attitudes go hand-in-hand might be shocked by new polling research: Americans are more approving of terrorist attacks against civilians than any major Muslim country except for Nigeria.

The survey, conducted in December 2006 by the University of Maryland’s prestigious Program on International Public Attitudes, shows that only 46 percent of Americans think that “bombing and other attacks intentionally aimed at civilians” are “never justified,” while 24 percent believe these attacks are “often or sometimes justified.”

Contrast those numbers with 2006 polling results from the world’s most-populous Muslim countries – Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nigeria. Terror Free Tomorrow, the organization I lead, found that 74 percent of respondents in Indonesia agreed that terrorist attacks are “never justified”; in Pakistan, that figure was 86

A heavily fortified walled enclave, the Green Zone is a little America in Iraq and life outside it might as well be another country. Since November 2005, OWFI has conducted a Women’s Prison Watch project and has found that “torture and rape are common procedure of investigation in police stations run by the militias affiliated with the government, mostly the Mahdi and Badr militias,” according to their summer 2006 report. … A striking example of the shameless killing of Iraqis is the case of three Iraqi women who are currently facing imminent execution by Iraqi authorities after unfair trials. In Baghdad’s Al-Kadhimiya Prison, Mrs Wassan Talib, 31, Mrs Zainab Fadhil, 25, and Mrs Liqa Omar Muhammad, 26, are waiting to be executed after a trial that Amnesty International condemned as unfair. Allegedly none of three women were legally represented and none of them had adequate time or facilities to prepare a defence. It is not even clear if they had a trial. As The New York Times pointed out in September 2006, some trials resulting in the death pe evidence that it claimed it had in its possession and which the defence repeatedly requested was not provided. One can only imagine what evidence, if any, was proffered against these three women…

A letter issued by the office of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Nuri al-Maliki, with the coordination of the Iraqi National Security Advisor, Muwaffaq al-Rabii, advices Muqtada al-Sadir to hide the leaders of his militants, the Mahdi Army, in the Islamic Republic of Iran, in case they are “arrested or killed by the American forces”. RABAT ­ Students at a school in the Moroccan city of Qunaitara are engaging in satanic rituals that included desecration of the Noble Qur’an, school sources told IslamOnline.net Wednesday, February, 21, warning that Satanism was on the rise in the entire city.
