1,245 Secret CIA Flights Revealed by European Parliament

November 28, 2006 4:56 PM

Brian Ross and Maddy Sauer Report:

The CIA flew 1,245 secret flights into European airspace, according to a European Parliament draft report obtained by ABC News.

The report is the result of a year-long investigation into secret CIA “extraordinary rendition” flights and prisons in Europe.

No European country has officially acknowledged being part of the program.

But citing records from an informal meeting of European and NATO foreign ministers last December that included Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, the Parliament’s draft report concludes “member states had knowledge of the programme of extraordinary rendition and secret prisons.”

The report said the recently fired head of Italian intelligence, General Nicolo Pollari, “concealed the truth” when he appeared before the Parliament’s investigating committee and stated “that Italian agents played no part in any CIA kidnapping.”

The report detailed the involvement of many European countries in what it called the CIA’s “illegal” program.

It listed the number of CIA flights, or stopovers, it found in a number of countries.

1. Italy: 46 stopovers.

2. United Kingdom: 170 stopovers.

3. Germany: 336 stopovers.

4. Spain: 68 stopovers.

5. Portugal: 91 stopovers.

6. Ireland: 147 stopovers.

7. Greece: 64 stopovers

8. Cyprus: 57 stopovers.

9. Romania: 21 stopovers.

10. Poland: 11 stopovers.

ONCE AGAIN RACISM SHOWS ITS UGLY FACE IN ISRAEL

ONCE AGAIN RACISM SHOWS ITS UGLY FACE IN ISRAEL

Desert Peace

November 29, 2006

A new amendment to the Israeli Citizenship and Entry Law is meeting with opposition from the entire left section in the Knesset… both Jews and Palestinians.
The new amendment, if passed, will divide even more families than are already suffering. It is not specifically aimed at Arabs (so they say) but at all non Jews…. this to make it appear not racist. Perhaps in the minds of demented racists that logic works… not to anyone with a sense of reality and justice.
The new amendment is racist and must be defeated…. if not, Israel takes yet another step backwards into oblivion.
Below is a report from HaAretz about the opposition to the law and the law itself.

Amendment to citizenship law rapped across political spectrum By Shahar Ilan and Gideon Alon, Haaretz Correspondents
Sharp criticism was voiced across the political spectrum on Wednesday at the Knesset Internal Affairs and Environmental Committee over a proposed amendment to the Citizenship and Entry Law, which would obligate anyone without a valid residency permit to leave the country for a cooling-off period of one to five years.

Most non-residents seeking legal status are in the country illegally and since the Interior Ministry’s population registry – the body that issues permits, visas and citizenship – makes it very hard for non-Jews to obtain residency permits. The amendment would therefore affect tens of thousands of families with at least one non-resident member.

If passed, the amendment could revolutionize the enforcement of immigration policy, further shut the gates of entry to non-Jews and greatly damage the right of Israelis to choose their life partners.

MK Raleb Majadele(Labor), chairman of the committee, asked the Interior Ministry to send statistics describing the population that the amendment would most likely affect.

Meretz Chairman Yossi Beilin said he was ashamed of the Justice Ministry for supporting such a proposal. “How can the ministry defend such a racist amendment? A devilish brain is behind this amendment,” Beilin said
MK Yoram Marciano (Labor) said, “We must prohibit such a bad law from passing,” while MK Jamal Zahalka (Balad) said, “This is an unprecedented catastrophe. The government caused them to be illegal residents without their consent.”

MK Dov Khenin (Hadash) said, “There is nothing positive about this law. It hurts a long line of people.”

MK Marina Solodkin (Kadima) said “The law will disrupt the normal lives of the people in the country.”

In addition, MK Yitzhak Aharonovich (Yisrael Beiteinu) said he would demand that the law not apply to immediate family members.

The government has simultaneously proposed extending the Citizenship and Entry Law by two years, until the end of 2008, despite the harsh criticism leveled at it by the High Court of Justice.

The current temporary order is valid until January 16, 2007, and must either be extended or replaced before that date. Last week, the interior ministry’s legal adviser, Yehuda Zameret, issued a memorandum of the new draft law.

The government seeks to expand the law to cover several “threatening states,” presumably mainly Arab and Muslim countries.

The bill gives Israel the right to reject an applicant who meets all the criteria “if in the applicant’s country of residency or if within his vicinity of residence activities liable to endanger the security of the State of Israel or its citizens take place.” This clause ostensibly gives Israel the right to reject any resident of the Palestinian Authority or any Arab country.

The Hadash Party submitted a motion of no-confidence to the government Wednesday because of the government’s intention of extending the law. MK Mohammed Barakeh said that, “The government has decided to worsen the law to a racist direction, using excusing that have no basis.”

President Saddam Trial. UNITED NATIONS Press Release

=== News Update ===

President Saddam Trial. UNITED NATIONS Press Release

UNITED NATIONS
WORKING GROUP ON ARBITRARY DETENTION
REITERATES CONCERNS REGARDING
SADDAM HUSSEIN TRIAL

The Working Group on Arbitrary Detention issued the following statement following its forty seventh session, which ended on 24 November:

Following the recent conclusion of Mr. Saddam Hussein Al-Tikriti’s first trial before the Iraqi High Tribunal, the Working Group decided at the end of its forty-seventh session, held in Geneva from 15 to 24 November 2006, to reiterate its concerns expressed in its Opinion N° 31/2006 of 1 September 2006. In this Opinion the Working Group considered that the non-observance of the relevant international standards during Mr. Hussein’s trial was of such gravity as to confer Mr. Hussein’s deprivation of liberty an arbitrary character.

“The Working Group deems it necessary to issue this statement at this time, since it cannot be excluded that the death penalty imposed upon Mr. Hussein would be carried out before the Opinion is published in its annual report to the Human Rights Council.

“The Working Group was seized by a communication on behalf of Mr. Hussein, in which complaints about his allegedly unlawful detention had been put forward, whereupon the Working Group delivered two Opinions on this case.

Its first Opinion (N° 46/2005), rendered on 30 November 2005, was rather procedural in nature. In this Opinion the Working Group took the position that it would not assess the lawfulness of Mr. Hussein’s detention between 13 December 2003 and 30 June 2004, since the deprivation of liberty during this period took place in an ongoing international armed conflict, and the United States Government recognised that the Geneva Conventions apply to individuals captured in the conflict in Iraq. Furthermore, the Working Group considered that it would be premature to take a position on the arbitrariness of Mr. Hussein’s deprivation of liberty, since the procedural flaws asserted, amounting to a violation of his right to fair trial could be, in principle, redressed during the subsequent stages of the proceeding. In this Opinion the Working Group invited the Governments of Iraq and the United States, to which the complaints in the communication were addressed, to file additional information.

In its second and final Opinion (N° 31/2006), rendered on 1 September 2006, the Working Group concluded that the deprivation of liberty of Mr. Hussein is arbitrary, being in contravention of Article 14 — on the right to fair trial — of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), a binding international treaty, to which both Iraq and the United States are parties. The Opinion set out a series of grave procedural flaws, such as, amongst others, the lack of independence and impartiality of the tribunal, which heard the case, the lack of respect for his right to have adequate time and facilities to prepare his defence, the restrictions on his right to access to defence lawyers and on the possibility to obtain the attendance and examination of witnesses on his behalf.

“In this context the Working Group invited the Governments of Iraq and the United States to consider whether a trial of the former Head of State in conformity with international standards is at all possible under the current conditions in Iraq, or whether the case should rather be referred to an international tribunal.

“The Working Group clarified in its Opinion that it does not request the release of Mr. Hussein. What it recommends to the two Governments is that the serious procedural shortcomings are redressed and that the situation of Mr. Hussein be brought in conformity with the principles of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights and with the provisions of the ICCPR.

“The Working Group also urges the Iraqi Government to refrain from carrying out the sentence of death by hanging imposed in a proceeding, which does not meet applicable basic standards of a fair trial.

“The text of the Working Group’s Opinion 31/2006 will be available after the publication of its annual report to the Human Rights Council”.

Iraqi Muslim Resistance announces “helicopter massacre”

Resistance announces “helicopter massacre”

The downing of two Black Hawk and one Apache helicopter near al-Fallujah on Monday night

In a dispatch posted at 11:06am Makkah time Tuesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters carried out what amounts to a “helicopter massacre” on Monday night, shooting down three US aircraft in the area of al-Karmah, 7km east of al-Fallujah. The downing came shortly after Resistance fighters brought down a US F-16 fighter-bomber with a Strela rocket in the same general vicinity at 1:30pm Monday afternoon.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of the Ibrahim ibn ‘Ali district as saying that the Resistance mounted their assault on the American aircraft in retaliation for the massacre committed by US aircraft when they first struck two civilian homes and then attacked the funeral service for the villagers killed in the first raid on Thursday, 23 November.

So on Monday night Resistance fighters shot down two Black Hawk and one Apache helicopter, bringing them all down with Strela (SAM-1) rockets in what was dubbed the “helicopter massacre.” The downing was announced in a communiqué published on the Internet by two Iraqi Resistance organizations – the Army of the Mujahideen and the Mujahideen Shura Council – who also claimed responsibility for bringing down the F-16 on Monday afternoon.

Some news services reported the news of the downing of the helicopters as “unconfirmed” and the US military denied that any had been lost. But the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent found a large number of witnesses who related the details of the shooting down of the three American choppers.

Darfur as a Resource War

To find out the truth on Dafur, questions we need to ask are:
* Who is behind the Conflict, Who are the players and Why?
* Why USA, UK and Western countries so much interested and want to use UN?
* Where are Zionists in USA and Israelis on this issue?
* Is Blood being shed for (Exxon) Oil? Beside OIL, Uranium, Gold, Silver, natural minerals is the reason?
* Is rising of Islam reason for Zionists in USA and Israelis to go to Dafur?

We must expose this false drama going to Dafur for Humanitarian Cause. As in the case of Afghanistan and Iraq or Iran. It is for Oil, Israel and to supress Muslameen and Islam.

CHINA: Uygur Muslims – Swamped by Han Influx

KASHGAR, Xinjiang Province, Nov 29, 2006 (IPS) – Unrest and Muslim fundamentalism in neighbouring Afghanistan and Pakistan have contributed to a resurgence of Islam in Xinjiang. But the global war on terror has provided regional authorities with an internationally viable reason for deploying more police forces and exercising even tighter control over religious practices.

Inside the province, resentment among Uygurs toward perceived repression by the Chinese is palpable. But it pales in comparison to the prevailing sense of economic marginalisation felt by non-Han ethnic groups.

BBC Footage 9/11:The Twin Towers Shows Positive Proof of Explosives

Posted by: ricksiegel

on Friday, November 10, 2006 – 10:43 PM 9015 Reads

” On September 7, 2006 the BBC showed a special anniversary program for the anniversary of 911 events. The show was called “911: The TwinTowers”. The video is of great significance as you can see and hear the Tower being demolished and hear the sequence of charges.

The sound allegedly has not been enhanced in any way and is even distorted by the Google encoding yet sets itself in accord with the testimony of most eyewitness testimony. That includes testimony from the FDNY firefighters.

The building had 114 floors and took approximately 10 seconds to collapse. In this video fourteen explosions can be heard in a period of 5 seconds dispelling any belief in a “pancake theory”.

While more and more evidence piles up and the floodgates are ready to burst one ponders what it will take for the people to finally get up and kick the people subverting the indictments into jail. Instead we note that they have now been promoted to higher positions of power/ they have passed more draconian laws stripping more freedoms and liberties in the belief that it will save us from the invisible enemy who cannot be killed.

If you or yours were murdered, would you not hope for a murder investigation? 3000 people died in NYC that day and there has not been one murder investigation, indictment or trial for any crime. Not one.

The government cover-up starts there. Indict the criminals

Rudolph Giuliani
– Destruction of 3000 murder crime scenes
– 250 murders of Firemen – Knowingly allowing 250 firemen to stay in the Towers when he had for warning of them coming down.

Christine Todd Whitman
– Causing pain, suffering and death to 1000’s of workers who depended on her claim to safe air.

George W. Bush
– Job Negligence in protecting the nation
– Criminal invasion of another nation under false pretenses
– Murder of 100,000 Iraqi’s
– Murder of 3000 US service people

Larry Silverstein
– Insurance Fraud
– Murder
– Theft
– Tax Fraud
– SEC Fraud
– Trading with the Enemy

I could go on but if you do not start somewhere you will never get anywhere.

Shout This Story OUT!

Their next massacre

Posted by musliminsuffer on November 29, 2006

=== News Update ===

Their next massacre

The Green Zone government and its militias are attacking civilians across Iraq to halt the resistance

The US and all occupying forces are legally and morally responsible for protecting all Iraqi civilians

No level of atrocity can break the geopolitical unity and sovereignty of Iraq

The human community must wake up. The sufferings of the Iraqi people are tragic and criminal. Whole cities are under siege: Fallujah, Sammara, Kirkuk, Haditha, Hit, Ramadi. Latifiyah, Tarmiyah, Baaquba, Moqdadiyah, Buhruz, Madaen, Abualkhasib, Al-Zubeir, Fahamma, Tel Afar, Husaiba …

Entire suburbs of Baghdad are attacked by the militias and police of the sectarian government: Adhamiyah, Al-Jihad, Ghazaliyah, Al-Amiriyah, Al-Huriyah, Al-Suleikh, Al-Saidiyah, Haifa Street, Al-Baladiyat, Al-Durah, Palestine Street …

The attacks aim to stop the spreading resistance to occupation. Now the resistance is everywhere: in the north, middle and the south. It encompasses all the Iraqi populations: Arabs, Shias, Sunnis, Turkomen, seculars, Kurds, Assyrians and other Christians, and Sabbits and Yaziids.

The occupation has no future in Iraq. Though defeated, the occupation refuses to accept its defeat until it has tried all. It seems the US administration thinks a civil war will save its reputation and plans.

US strategists try to forget that killing civilians is a political and moral crime and banned under international law, whoever the doer and whatever the cause. Qualifying civilian deaths as civil war does not lift the responsibility of the local, regional or international forces that are responsible before law for stopping it.

The genocidal killings, the collective punishments, and the crimes against humanity committed over recent days in Baghdad by the sectarian militias participating in the government, and with the participation of the government’s police and the complicity of the occupation, must be stopped.

The US, instead of accepting the evident reality that only the national popular resistance — armed, political and civil — has the power and the legitimacy to bring stability, democracy and peace to Iraq, is trying to escape this reality by diverting eyes from the tragic situation to its diplomatic moves with Syria and Iran.

The US cannot escape the reality of its responsibility in the destruction of Iraq as a nation and state. It is the US that tried to build, since the invasion, an artificial Iraqi state based not on citizenship — the guiding attribute of all modern states, including Iraq since 1925 — but a state based on ethnic and sectarian principles.

The US forgot that Iraq cannot be divided; that its Arabo-Muslim identity is a cultural and geopolitical reality, and that a modern state cannot be built but on the principle of citizenship free from all discrimination. Its talk of civil war is hypocritical. It does everything to ignite it.

The entire international community, and especially the neighbours of Iraq, have a moral, political and economic interest in yielding Iraq to Iraqis, in defending its unity and integrity, and helping Iraq rid itself of the occupation and realise the sovereignty of its land, resources and destiny.

Urgent action!

We call on all institutions, governmental and non-governmental, the world over to oppose the escalating terror confronting the Iraqi people.

Trade unions, educational institutions, parliaments, rights groups and ordinary people can raise their voices to stop the gathering tragedy as the occupation and its local clients wager the life of Iraqis for their political skins.

Only the end of occupation can end these atrocities. End it now!

UN Report Says Afghan Government Protect Drug Traffickers

=== News Update ===

UN Report Says Afghan Government Protect Drug Traffickers

KABUL (AP)–Afghanistan’s criminal underworld has compromised key government officials who protect drug traffickers, allowing a record opium trade that won’t be stamped out for a generation to flourish, an ominous new U.N. report released Tuesday said.

The fight against opium production has so far achieved only limited success, mostly because of corruption, the joint report from the World Bank and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime said.

The findings show a “probability of high-level (government) involvement” in drugs, said Doris Buddenberg, the UNODC’s Afghanistan representative and co- editor of the report.

The report in particular presented a strong indictment of the Ministry of Interior, which runs the country’s police, and said Afghanistan’s criminal underworld couldn’t operate without the support of the political “upperworld.”

“The majority of police chiefs are involved,” one senior police officer told the report’s authors on condition of anonymity. “If you are not, you will be threatened to be killed and replaced.”

Without naming officials, the report said it was possible that powerful interests in the Ministry of Interior are appointing district police chiefs “to both protect and promote criminal interests.”

The result is a “complex pyramid of protection and patronage, effectively providing state protection to criminal trafficking activities.”

The spokesman for the counter-narcotics ministry said there is no evidence that high-ranking officials are involved in Afghanistan’s drug trade.

“If there is evidence we welcome the evidence and the arrest will be on the spot,” Zalmai Afzali said.

Poppy cultivation and the heroin it produces has become a major problem in this war-torn country, providing funds for a rising Taliban insurgency that has caused the deaths of more than 3,700 people this year.

Opium cultivation in Afghanistan rose 49% this year to 6,100 tons – enough to make 610 tons of heroin, nearly a third more than the world’s drug users consume. The harvest provided more than 90% of the world’s opium supply and was worth more than US$3.1 billion.

Gen. Khodaidad, Afghanistan’s deputy minister for counter-narcotics, told The Associated Press that next year’s harvest will be as large as last year’s in several key southern provinces where Taliban militants have a heavy presence. A U.S. official has also told AP he expects next year’s yield to be about the same.

The 210-page report, titled “Afghanistan’s Drug Industry,” is a first-of-its- kind comprehensive assessment of the country’s drug production, from poppy- growing farmers to international drug traffickers.

Barnett Rubin, director of studies and senior fellow at New York University’s Center on International Cooperation, said his research has led to many of the same conclusions as the report’s.

“There are many cases where honest prosecutors or police chiefs try to do something about corruption, and they say they receive phone calls from very high officials in Kabul saying to leave the people alone,” said Rubin, an expert on Afghanistan.

Like the report, Rubin said he couldn’t name names. “Getting indictable evidence is very, very difficult,” he said. “I’m not mentioning any individual’s name to you because I don’t want to be sued or bumped off.”

Interior Ministry spokesman Zemeri Bashary said the ministry was reforming its process for selecting police chiefs.

“At the moment we don’t have any problems with our police chiefs,” he said. ” If the government is saying that poppy cultivation is prohibited, so they are obliged to implement the orders of the government.”

Instead of sustained declines in cultivation, successful efforts to reduce poppy growing in one province often leads to increases elsewhere, the report found.

“History teaches us that it will take a generation to render Afghanistan opium-free,” said Antonio Maria Costa, executive director of UNODC. “Those driving the drug industry must be brought to justice and officials who support it sacked.”

Poppies take up less than 4% of the total cultivated area in Afghanistan, and most districts do not grow opium, the report said. But the US$3.1 billion export value of last year’s crop accounted for around one-third of total economic activity in the country, and about 13% of Afghans are involved in the trade.

The report says there is also a need to curtail demand. The major consumers of Afghanistan’s opium are Iran, Pakistan, the U.K., Italy, Spain and Germany, Buddenberg said.

Rubin said the report shows the international community’s approach to the drug fight here is wrong.

“It should focus its efforts to remove big drug money from the political process,” he said. “But instead what we have done is put big drug traffickers in positions of power, failed to take or support strong actions against them while we attack the livelihoods of small farmers and laborers through eradication, and they then turn to the Taliban or warlords for protection.”

Corrected Nov. 28, 200616:05 ET (21:05 GMT)

Opium production in Afghanistan rose 49% this year to 6,100 metric tons.

(The item “UN Report Says Afghan Govt Protect Drug Traffickers,” published at 1:53 p.m. EST, misstated the percentage increase of opium production in Afghanistan this year.)

ANTI-MUSLIM SLURS SHOUTED DURING DETROIT ASSAULT – Authorities asked to probe attack as possible hate crime

(SOUTHFIELD, MI, 11/28/06) – On Tuesday, November 28, the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI) will hold a news conference to call on local and national law enforcement authorities to investigate an assault on a Detroit Muslim as a possible hate crime.

The 51-year-old victim, who is of Egyptian heritage, was allegedly dragged from his home on Monday evening and beaten by some 10 white people shouting anti-Muslim slurs. The slurs reportedly included: “You’re a f**king Arab,” “You’re a f**king Muslim,” “You’re not an American,” and “Go back to where you came from.” The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the attack.

BBC Footage 9/11:The Twin Towers Shows Positive Proof of Explosives

9/11 and Iraq – The Concealed Connection!

No, Iraq was not involved with, nor did its leader support Al Qaeda. No, Iraq was not involved in the planning or operation of the 9/11 attacks. And no, not a single alleged hijacker was an Iraqi. It’s “no” to the Iraq nexus all the way down the line.

That fact is a logical certainty which most people understand on some level of awareness. The public realizes that the attacks of 9/11 and to the Bush/PNAC invasion of Iraq are somehow interwoven, but most Americans cannot bring themselves to deal with the correct cause and effect sequence: Iraq was in no way responsible for what happened on 9/11, but 9/11 was in every way responsible for what happened in Iraq.

Everyone is guilty in the ongoing Iraq tragedy. The US-trained new Iraqi army is infiltrated by militias, by death squads and even by al-Qaeda in Iraq. 911, Iraq, PNAC , All roads lead to Israel

The evidence if it was ALL being stated, especially pertaining to the war in Iraq, would land you somewhere between scenario 4 and 5 and more research would land you firmly in 5.

A lot of people have written about and shown the problems with official 911 story. There is the demolition of building number 7, which the 911 commission didn’t even address, there are the firemen’s reports that the fires were almost out, there are numerous reports of secondary explosions etc. Because it has been said on radio and more so because people have made films about it, many people can recite the arguments for the inside job in their sleep. But what has been hidden from you and the dots which have not been connected in any 911 films is the Israeli connection. 911 was an inside job which was part of a larger plan for perpetual war hatched in Israel. 911 and the wars in the Middle East were carefully planned attacks carried out by a faction of Zionist Neocons and the Israeli Mossad. I would like to focus more on who did it rather than just that it was done. It’s crystal clear that the government’s official story like their stories on everything else, is a complete lie. Who really did 911?

Democrats Blame Iraqis for U.S. Induced Misery

“Once in power, Hoyer said, the Democrats hope to work with Republicans and the Bush administration to change direction in Iraq war plans,” reports ABC News.

Please note: Hoyer didn’t say the Democrats will end the “war” in Iraq. He said they will work with the Bush administration, that is to say the perfidious neocons.

All of this should be nothing new. Democrats have repeatedly expressed their approval of decimating Iraq and reducing it to a depleted uranium wasteland where, one day, the living will envy the dead.

Congratulations, Congressman Hoyer, for taking utterly no responsibility for the carnage you and this administration have created through the invasion of Iraq, then blaming the victims for their misery.

Ferocity of Iraq attacks leaves US troops helpless

More than 3½ years after President George W Bush launched an invasion of Iraq, which his supporters proclaimed as a “cakewalk”, American troops were yesterday engulfed in a wave of sectarian bloodletting that threatens to destroy the Iraqi government and may jeopardise a crisis summit this week with Nouri al-Maliki, the prime minister.

US carried out madrasah bombing

THE bombing of a Pakistani madrasah last month, in which 82 students were killed, was carried out by the United States, a Pakistani official has admitted. The madrasah in the tribal agency of Bajaur was bombed during a visit to Pakistan by the Prince of Wales amid allegations that it was being used to train suicide bombers.

“We thought it would be less damaging if we said we did it rather than the US,” said a key aide to President Pervez Musharraf. “But there was a lot of collateral damage and we’ve requested the Americans not to do it again.”

The Americans are believed to have attacked after a tip-off that Ayman al-Zawahiri, the deputy leader of Al-Qaeda, was present. Local people claimed the victims included boys as young as 12 and that the tribal area had been negotiating with the Pakistan government for a peace deal. Pakistani officials insist they were shown satellite images of people training and have checked the identity cards of all those killed, and that all were adults.

President Bush’s Bad Reputation

Around The World, People See The President As An Extension Of America’s Arrogance

Just back from Southeast Asia, President George W. Bush will travel to the Middle East this week. But wherever he goes, Bush encounters hostility.

In Southeast Asia, Bush tried very hard to win over his hosts. He played native instruments, watched native dancers and even tried on native clothes. But Bush’s earthy diplomacy conducted mid-munch at the G-8 Summit in July or his unsolicited shoulder rub of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, hasn’t played well around the world.

More US Troops Dying in Anbar Province

Washington – In the three months since thousands of US forces poured into Baghdad to quash escalating violence, far more American troops have died in the volatile western Anbar province than in the capital city.

More than two-thirds of the 245 US casualties between Aug. 7, the start of the Baghdad offensive, and Nov. 7 occurred outside Baghdad – which military leaders have called the “center of gravity” of Iraq, and the key to success in the war. Four in 10 deaths over those three months have been in Anbar province, a Sunni insurgency stronghold where US Marines have largely taken the lead.

Marines, who comprise only about 15 percent of the 141,000 US forces currently in Iraq, accounted for nearly 28 percent of the fatalities over the three-month period.

ZIONISTS EXTEND THEIR FIGHT TO INCLUDE ALL MUSLIMS

It is not enough for the zionists to rampage and destroy every Palestinian village within their reach. It is not enough for them to have literally declared genocide against an entire nation, starting with the elimination of the women and children.

No… now the agents of this evil ‘ism’ must create lies and start attacking all Muslims. This tactic is not a new one, it has been used in the States for decades. But now the zionists in Britain are taking up the ‘torch’ and literally going after Muslim organisations that speak out against the injustices in Israel/Palestine. Their guiding force has been their magazine Engage. This is the type of crap they present in their pages…

156 bodies exhumed from mass grave in Bosnia

SARAJEVO, BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA — Forensic experts exhumed bodies of 156 people from a mass grave found recently in northeastern Bosnia that is believed to be connected to the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, officials said Friday.

Near the end of the 1992-95 Bosnian war, Bosnian Serbs overran Srebrenica, a Muslim enclave, which the United Nations had declared a safe zone, and killed as many as 8,000 Muslim men and boys.

Thousands of Srebrenica victims have been exhumed from over 60 mass graves around the town, and more than 2,500 of them were identified by DNA analysis.

Giving Thanks in the Shadow of the Terror War

The “War on Terror” represents a horribly, monstrously wrong turn for the United States, Britain, and the world. Like its offshoot, the aggression in Iraq, the Terror War is a strategic disaster of mind-boggling proportions, a moral, political and cultural failure so immense as to be almost unfathomable, an all-corrupting, counterproductive policy of resounding stupidity. We have not even begun to comprehend the scope and depth — and duration — of the harm that this reckless, witless, ignorant campaign has wrought. Tyranny, bankruptcy, decay, division, murder, cowardice and deceit — these have been the hallmarks and the products of the Terror War launched by George W. Bush and Tony Blair, in supposed reaction to the criminal acts of a small gang of cranks…

233 Dead in Civil War Carnage, Health Ministry Besieged, 3,000 Widows Created Each Month

How bad the situation is in Iraq is suggested by this email I just got from a professional who used to be in Iraq but now is in a nearby country: ‘ It is desperate in Iraq, worse then ever and there is no end in sight. I had lunch with [a former high ranking medical educator in Iraq] two days ago. [He]noted that Iraq no longer has neuro-surgeons, no cardiac surgeons, few pediatric doctors – they are all gone, killed or fled to neighboring countries like him. He was given seven days to get out or be killed. He is one of the lucky ones. He and his family have an opportunity for a new life in the US. But what about all the others. Where are they to go? Another friend, a Sunni sheikh of the Shammar tribe noted to me that thousands of former officers are prepared to assault the G[reen] Z[one]. It is no longer a matter of can they do it, they are only mulling over the timing. The breach of the Green Zone security the other day was a test of their ability to get in, and not a real attempt at a coup, though it is reported as such. Every Iraqi I talk to says unambiguously that the resistance attached to the former regime would take out the Shiite militias with barely a fight, but that the resistance will not commit wholesale revenge against the Shiite population. They just want to get rid of the “carpet baggers” from Iran. ‘…

Militiamen burn 6 Sunni worshippers alive, army does not intervene

Militiamen grabbed six Sunnis as they left worship services today, doused them with kerosene and burned them alive as Iraqi soldiers stood by, and seven Sunni mosques came under attack as Shiites took revenge for the slaughter of at least 215 people in the Sadr City slum. Members of the Mahdi Army militia burned four mosques and several homes while killing 12 other Sunni residents in the once-mixed Hurriyah neighborhood until American forces arrived, said police Capt. Jamil Hussein. Gunmen loyal to radical anti-American Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr began taking over the neighborhood this summer and a majority of its Sunni residents already had fled. The gunmen attacked the four mosques with rocket-propelled grenades, machine guns and automatic rifles. Residents said the militiamen prevented them from entering the burned buildings to remove the dead, and they and Hussein said Shiite-dominated police and Iraqi military stood idly by…

Platitudes Are No Defense Against Zionist Terrorism

CBC News ran an article based on Associated Press files that began: “‘Massive’ human rights violations are being committed in the Gaza Strip, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Louise Arbour said Monday as she kicked off a tour of the region.” Human rights violations — committed by whom and against whom? This passive construction conveys an image of agent-less human rights violations against anonymous victims. The reader is, however, later informed that 19 members of the Al Athamna family in the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanoun were killed in an Israeli artillery attack. CBC News cited “Israeli officials” who acknowledged an error. CBC News never bothered to tabulate the numerous zionist errors/massacres over the years, such as at Qana, Nablus, Jenin, Beit Lahiya, etc. Even if the Beit Hanoun massacre were an error — and the only error — should that exculpate the zionist regime from condemnation and sanction?…

Olmert: Thank God for Dead Iraqis and U.S. Soldiers

On numerous occasions here, I have linked to Philip Zelikow’s remark that the Iraq “war” was launched in the name of Israel’s security, not because Saddam Hussein was a threat to the United States, as our unitary decider and his minions have declared ad nauseam since the invasion. “Why would Iraq attack America or use nuclear weapons against us? I’ll tell you what I think the real threat (is) and actually has been since 1990—it’s the threat against Israel,” said Zelikow, the Bush political hack who worked for the NSC, the President’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, the September 11th whitewash commission, and the CIA, the latter as an official exonerator of politicized intelligence while at Harvard. Naturally, the corporate media did not bother to mention Zelikow’s remark about the invasion. In fact, when people say such things, they are usually considered antisemites. http://www.uruknet.de/?p=m28487&hd=&size=1&l=e

Iraq war was good for Israel: Olmert

The Iraq war was a boon for Israel’s security, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said on Wednesday, voicing fresh endorsement for a Bush administration sapped by the unpopularity at home of its Middle East policies. The mid-term election losses of U.S. President George W. Bush’s Republican Party were widely considered a repudiation of his decision to topple Iraq’s Saddam Hussein as part of a vision of democratizing the region and bolstering allies like Israel. Olmert avoided explicit comment on the Republicans’ fortunes during Washington talks with Bush earlier this month. But in a speech to visiting American Jews, Olmert made clear he had few regrets about the changes wrought by the 2003 invasion of Iraq…

Isn’t Germany sick of the Holocaust?

Whatever happened in WW2 was terrible. But that was the middle of the last century. The people who did the bad things are all dead. The people to whom the bad things were done are almost all dead.

The vast majority of people alive today had nothing to do with the horrors of WW2. We were not even alive back then. We certainly were not in positions of authority.

I know there is a vast segment of the population stuck living in the past, but we have horrors happening today right in front of us, genocides taking place right in front of us, and we ARE alive and able to influence those events. We are living in a nation that is using torture on innocent people, bombs and invades innocent nations on the basis of lies, and supports an apartheid regime that waves around last century’s war criminals as an excuse for acting as modern-day war criminals themselves in Palestine and Lebanon.

Forget what happened last century. What is important is that it is happening all over again right this very moment. Israel is trying to use the swastika as a blindfold to keep you from seeing what is really going on.

Dictatorship : Bush’s Defeated Foe: US Civil Liberty

George Orwell warned us, but what American would have expected that in the opening years of the 21st century the United States would become a country in which lies and deception by the President and Vice President were the basis for a foreign policy of war and aggression, and in which indefinite detention without charges, torture, and spying on citizens without warrants have displaced the Bill of Rights and the US Constitution? If anyone had predicted that the election of George W. Bush to the presidency would result in an American police state and illegal wars of aggression, he would have been dismissed as a lunatic. What American ever would have thought that any US president and attorney general would defend torture or that a Republican Congress would pass a bill legalizing torture by the executive branch and exempting the executive branch from the Geneva Conventions?…

Giving Thanks? Yes, Thanking God that I’m Not Like Them!

…There, but for the grace of God, go I: The United Nations reported yesterday that 3,709 Iraqi civilians were killed in October. It’s the highest monthly death toll, since the depraved men in the White House, President Bush and Vice President Cheney, launched a war of choice – seemingly on a desperate whim. Flawed, weak and sinful characters both, they had to respond in some way, any way, for their demonstrably poor stewardship demonstrated by the al Qaeda attacks they failed to prevent. “To whom much is given, much is expected.”- Luke 12:48. Obviously Luke set the bar way too high for these immoral, incompetent clowns. Bush and Cheney may have received much in life, but most Americans today expect very little from them, They’re in over their heads and they refuse to check the real world outside their vacuum-packed bubble…

The Snooping Goes Beyond Phone Calls

The Departments of Justice, State, and Homeland Security spend millions annually to buy commercial databases that track Americans’ finances, phone numbers, and biographical information, according to a report last month by the U.S. Government Accountability Office, the investigative arm of Congress. Often, the agencies and their contractors don’t ensure the data’s accuracy, the GAO found.

Buying commercially collected data allows the government to dodge certain privacy rules. The Privacy Act of 1974 restricts how federal agencies may use such information and requires disclosure of what the government is doing with it. But the law applies only when the government is doing the data collecting.

The Power of Israel in the United States

Petras explains the root of the Lobby’s power lies in the high proportion of Jewish families who are among the wealthiest and most influential ones in the country. He cites Forbes magazine that reported 25 – 30% of the wealthiest families here are Jewish despite the small percentage of Jews in the population overall. They include billionaires with enormous influence, and along with all others comprising the pro-Israeli Lobby, have created a “tyranny of Israel over the US” with consequences grave enough to threaten world peace and stability, the global economy, and the very future of democracy in this country.

3,709 Iraqi civilians were killed in October alone

GENEVA — The United Nations said Wednesday that 3,709 Iraqi civilians were killed in October, the highest monthly toll since the 2003 U.S. invasion.

The toll came in the latest UN report on human rights in Iraq, covering September and October, according to Said Arakat, spokesman for the U.N. Assistance Mission in Iraq. The new toll exceeds the previous monthly high, of 3,590 in July. That earlier figure, an average of more than 100 a day, was termed “unprecedented” by the UN.

The assassination of Lebanese cabinet minister Pierre Gemayel smacks of involvement by Syria, which is determined to pull the pins out from under Lebanon’s fragile democratic government, broaden its influence and bolster the fortunes of its political allies, including the terrorist Hezbollah group. Israel issues last permits to foreigners, splitting families

All foreign passports of spouses and children of Palestinian ID-holders who had applied for visa extensions were marked recently as “last permit” by the Israeli authorities. 105 passport holders are required to exit from Israeli controlled entry/exit points before the end of the year. The Israeli Ministry of Interior (MoI) office at Beit El began returning the passports on November 19 after a six-week strike by Israeli MoI employees. Those who overstay their allotted time will be considered “illegal” and are subject to immediate deportation from the Israeli occupied Palestinian territory (oPt). In an effort to avoid being considered “illegal” and threatened with arrest by the Israelis, some families are opting to relocate abroad. The pattern of refusing visa renewals for family members is part of an overall Israeli effort that denies entry to foreign nationals seeking access to the oPt.

The Great Thanksgiving Hoax

The official story then has the Pilgrims living more or less happily ever after, each year repeating the first Thanksgiving. Other early colonies also have hard times at first, but they soon prosper and adopt the annual tradition of giving thanks for this prosperous new land called America.

The problem with this official story is that the harvest of 1621 was not bountiful, nor were the colonists hardworking or tenacious. 1621 was a famine year and many of the colonists were lazy thieves.

To rectify this situation, in 1623 Bradford abolished socialism. He gave each household a parcel of land and told them they could keep what they produced, or trade it away as they saw fit. In other words, he replaced socialism with a free market, and that was the end of famines.

WASHINGTON, DC – Nov. 21, 2006 (MASNET) Late Monday evening 6 Imams (religious leaders), traveling from a religious leader’s conference in Minnesota, were removed from their flight and detained in the airport for questioning. 5 of the detained Imams were from Arizona while one was from California.

Reports indicate that a passenger sent a note to the flight crew indicating that “he felt unsafe with the Imams on-board”. Eyewitness accounts have suggested that this was a result of the Imams praying their evening prayers in the airport terminal. Following their release US airways refused to allow them on any future flights although they were never arrested nor charged with any crime. After their 5 hour ordeal the Imams were left stranded at the airport, unable to purchase an outgoing flight on any of the remaining airlines.

Rwanda nun jailed over genocide

A Roman Catholic nun has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for her role in the Rwandan genocide in 1994. Mukakibibi is the first nun sentenced by a Rwandan court for crimes committed during the genocide. Two other Catholic nuns were found guilty by a Belgian court in 2001, and male priests have also faced trial.

Contrast this with Rwandan Muslims, who often gave up their lives in saving or trying to save Tutsis…

100 Jewish settlers chant to 19 year old Swedish girl: “We killed Jesus and we’ll kill you too”

If 100 Palestinians chanting anti-Christian slogans had smashed a 19-year-old Swedish girl in the face with a bottle, breaking her cheek bone, it would be headlines in much of the US media.

Support Gathers for Sunni Leader

BAGHDAD, Nov 20, 2006 (IPS) – The arrest warrant issued last week by the Iraqi government for Sunni leader Dr. Harith al-Dhari has sent shockwaves through the government, and galvanised much of the Sunni population.

Iraq’s minister for the interior Jawad al-Bolani told reporters that al-Dhari was wanted for inciting terrorism and violence. At the same time, Vice-President Tariq al-Hashimi said the warrant was “destructive to the national reconciliation plan.”

Sixty-five-year-old Harith al-Dhari heads the influential Association of Muslim Scholars (AMS), the leading Sunni religious leadership of Iraq. Al-Dhari is currently in Jordan; he left Iraq five months back for fear of personal safety. The AMS is known to have contacts with the Iraqi resistance, and has been opposed to the U.S. occupation and the U.S.-backed Iraqi government.

Democrats seek accommodation with Bush administration to continue Iraq occupation

Over the weekend, leading Democrats pledged their eagerness to work closely with the Bush administration in forging a bipartisan policy to continue the occupation of Iraq, and voiced their support for a substantial increase in the military budget and the recruitment of more Army troops. The remarks come amidst an intense debate within ruling circles over how to salvage the Iraq occupation and preserve the interests of American imperialism in the Middle East. While several different options are being considered, the possibility of an immediate withdrawal of some or all troops-the position supported by the vast majority of those who voted for Democratic candidates in the elections held less than two weeks ago-has been removed from the table…
